Cessation of Smoking Trial in the Emergency Department

People who smoke attending an Emergency Department for any reason. The intervention is to support smoking cessation.

Primary Objective – To undertake a randomised controlled trial (RCT), with internal pilot, comparing a brief intervention (including provision of an e-cigarette) with signposting to smoking cessation services, assessing long term smoking abstinence in people attending an Emergency Department.

Sample size – 100 participants over a duration of approximately 6 months.
