Fiona Murphy

Clinical Trial Assistant

Fiona came to Edinburgh from Ireland in 2016 to attend Queen Margaret University. She graduated in June 2020 with a BSc Honours in Human Biology. Her time at university gave her a foundation and love of learning and research that she wanted to explore.

Fiona joined NHS Lothian in 2020 to work in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences as a Clinical Support Worker. There she worked as part of a large multi-disciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive and high standard of care to patients with a wide range of neurological and spinal diseases and injuries. She thoroughly enjoyed working with these patients and she says she learned so much from her colleagues in focusing care to the individual needs of the patient.

Fiona began working with the EMERGE team in December 2021! Here she says she has been given the opportunity to expand her skills set to work with a range of patients involved in Research Medicine while also re-evaluating her perspective of clinical care in order to fill the needs of her role as a Clinical Trials Assistant. Fiona feels that the team support her so that she may grow and develop skills tailored to this role and so that she may offer well-rounded, professional, patient centered care to all patients who take part in our research.
