Research Nurse- Bank Staff
I qualified in 2008 with a Diploma in Adult Nursing, at Kings College University of London. My first post as a Staff Nurse was in an elective neurosurgical spinal unit. I enjoyed working here and gained a great foundation and invaluable experience. I worked regularly in the Emergency Department within Kings College Hospital and always had a passion and great interest in Emergency Medicine from early on in my career.
I am originally from Scotland and moved back here in 2010 and got a rotational job within the renal unit. Working in the acute setting helped me decide my career pathway and further studying of a post graduate degree and then was lucky enough to receive a post in the emergency department as a trainee Acute Nurse Practitioner. This is a challenging and exciting development for nurses and I really enjoy the challenges, autonomy and development that this role involves. I completed my MSc in advanced practice specialising in Emergency care and found an interest in research which lead me to be involved in Project Sachibondu, which is a health clinic based in rural Zambia, where I participated as a clinical role and received invaluable insight into research with the team.
I have now had the opportunity to complete a secondment within the EMERGE team whilst also continuing my work as an advanced nurse practitioner. I am excited to be part of the EMERGE team and allow myself to learn and develop new skills, and with my already learnt knowledge and enthusiasm for Emergency Medicine, I look forward to contributing to the ultimate goal within clinical research; finding the best outcome for our patients.
