Beth’s clinical background is in acute admissions, but she has worked on a variety of wards including a stint in high dependency, ITU and 2 years spent doing bank and agency work which took her as far afield as the Orkney and Shetland islands. After working with the infection control team in Inverness during the Covid-19 pandemic, Beth decided she wanted a new challenge in nursing and applied for a research post in Edinburgh.
Beth has found working in research to be a really exciting aspect of health care as there is the opportunity to be a part of new, ground breaking treatments. For example, she worked on the Oxford vaccine trial in her previous role which although challenging was extremely rewarding when the vaccine was approved and saved the lives of countless people. Beth says she is looking forward to her new role within the Emerge team as a renal research nurse to further explore this area of care.
