Consultant in Emergency Medicine
Marie-Clare graduated from Glasgow University in 2001 and moved to Edinburgh in 2006 as the last ever Specialist Registrar.
She has been a consultant in Emergency Department in the RIE since 2011 and has stumbled into research by accident, dazzled by a gadget. She is the RIE site PI on the RAMPP trial and appreciates the support of the real researchers.
Intervention
1. Ambulatory Device, Rocket Pleural vent insertion
2. Standard Treatment, Aspiration +/- chest drain
Primary Outcome Measures
To assess whether use of an ambulatory device (Rocket Pleural Vent) and treatment strategy reduces hospital stay. Total length of stay in hospital up to 30 days post randomisation. Up to 30 days post randomisation.
